![]() ![]() ![]() Having a lot of rules on this and how it works would be odd for Discord to do as a whole, and very tedious. Setting it up so that only certain people can remove to bot tag, that way it can only be done for proxy bots, would be unfair and cause a bias with Discord. The person who created the post argues that with enough rules set in place and correct moderation Discord would be able to counter balance all of these things, however the amount of work that would need to go into this is greater then it is worth. This would screw people outside of the system community. In one of our servers, it's really important that people know which messages are from bots and which are not. EDIT: Furthermore, remember that a change like this would affect ALL discord bots that use webhooks. ![]() There's probably a better answer somewhere else, imo. Problems that would threaten the functionality of Discord. Eliminating the BOT tag would just cause more problems. That problem can be fixed through gentle education and bringing awareness. (Ex: "Why is Discord not letting me DM you?" + "Where is the option to friend you?" + "Where's your user ID? Are you a bot?") I understand that it's annoying when some people are like "WHY IS THAT BOT TALKING?" They shouldn't do that. Remove that and you're at risk of raiders, spam, and causing a ton of nfusion that pretty much wouldn't solve this issue. The BOT tag isn't saying that the people using it are bots, it's saying that they're using the assistance of a bot and the message is being proxied by a bot. ![]() If you're using a discord bot, people should be able to know. As someone who's autistic, social interactions can be v complicated at the best of times, and not being sure who's talking doesn't help Being able to see that a bot has been used helps me know what's going on in these conversations and which users the server even has. I'm also worried about this creating confusion in conversations, as I already find the use of this bot disorienting despite being used to seeing it in the servers I'm in. This would be very easy to exploit outside of its intended purpose for scamming and other things. Anything thats quoted was not written by me. For anyone here who is confuses about why this wouldn't be a good thing/wouldn't work, i copied and pasted a couple comments from the post to help explain it. ![]()
